Thursday, September 21st, The Royal George (Soho)

magic from Adam B
It was a wonderfully packed night at The Royal George (soho) Thursday and what a fun crowd they were, too. First to the stage was Fred Bell, who’s a big fan of flappy phone cases. Gracie Battson then told us that she identifies as “The Tories’ worst nightmare” before Alex Lawrence gave us an example of competitive parenting. It was then over to Lawrence Dodd who poised the question: can you really be an incel if you’re having a ton of sex…with yourself? Sam Diplock was next with his theory that there should be an age limit on the internet. After Sam we had Rohan Ashar and when racism becomes a compliment to your comedy. It was then an insight into the rules of kosher sex thanks to Ben Levitt. Ben Westwood then told us when having chlamydia is a good thing…when you’ve got it in Scrabble! Matt Young then exposed one of life’s true mysteries: why will you never find more than one gay man at a hen party. Closing the first half was the brilliant Phil Green. Phil was on truly stellar form having the crowd’s hands sore with applause break after applause break, culminating in a simply hilarious observation of a boomer goodbye.
After the break we got off to a magical start thanks to Adam B (pictured) and some flash card/idiot boards. It was then over to Brendan King whom from an early age was a very wise man, some may even say Messianic. Tomas Bepalo then explained to the crowd the problems of being a BPD sufferer and why just middling at anything just isn’t an option for them. Hot on Tomas’ heels was Paul Little. Paul loves a steam room and its wealth of slappy, flappy, sloppy sound effects. It was then over to Alex Chase and Charles The Penguin. What’s not to like about loquacious sphenisciformes with a liking for the Beatles. After Alex and Charles we had the punny Ollie Taylor who likes nothing more than a well bleached light opening to his set. It was then over to the hilarious Hidehito who was made in Japan for girth and efficiency. The evening’s penultimate act was Maxim K, the Russian who is over here not touring our cathedrals or anything else suspicious. Closing the show was the prop comedy chaos of Richard Woolford. From giraffe matrimony to Bucharest and the biggest knees in the porn industry, Richard was the perfect close to a great show.
So that was Thursday at The Royal George and it was a load of fun. See you next week.
