“Singing, Sagging & Shagging”

For the first time at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe: a spanking new music-driven cabaret show that celebrates outrageous – yet all true! – life stories of a multiple-divorcee/rock-singer-turned-cabaret-comedian who, at age 60, decided to pack her jaw-dropping tales of cult-loving husbands, jailbird exes, shaggable therapists and neurodiverse adventures into an hour show of powerfully funny parodies, with snippets of famous songs recrafted to poke fun at her rocky road to self-discovery. From sultry pop to classical trills and belting cabaret-style showstoppers, this cheeky romp is musical mayhem comedy at its finest. With highly experienced director Roland Saunders at the helm, this show is the perfect celebration of female power in the midst of chaos. As Roland puts it, “Barbara has so much energy she’s a vocal diva, comedian and fully-charged power station all in one!”

The inspiration of the show came from a result of Barbara’s comedic successes after being diagnosed with a serious mental health condition rather late in life (age 58!) and her subsequent 2-year struggle to claw her way free of the lifelong brain fog that she previously thought was ‘something you just have to live with’. She began standup comedy by sharing her life stories inside of jokes and parody songs, which people warmed to – and this show is the result. Barbara says, “People need to know it’s never too late to discover who you are and what you want to do, and that includes singing and joking on stage about your foibles, faults and failures.”
