Last night at The Star of Kings was G&B’s Growing Old Disgracefully Show, the night where acts who are still haunted by the whine of dial-up get to get up on stage and not see blank faces when they use terms like ‘mix-tape’. First to the stage, and getting things off to a cracking start, was Mark Vincent and his swollen prostate. It was then over to He who cannot be named’s understudy, Nicky Vere-Compton…and Nagini! After HWCBN was the puntastic Mark Rivlin who is opening a chip shop in Bahrain called Sultan Vinegar. It was then over to Rabiah
Last night at The Star of Kings was G&B’s Music & Character Comedy Night, easily one of my favourite gigs in the G&B calendar. First up was Barry Allen (aka Mark Nicholas) who gave us some great advice: never look directly at The Sun, because its page 3 is crap nowadays. It was then over to Natalie Durkin and just why she wants a shed. It’s waaaaay darker than you might think. Daniel and Molly was next with everything from global politics to artificial intelligence and horny robots. We then had a bit of comedy class from Tasmin Sarkany and
That outrageous rollercoaster ride of crazy, The Music & Character Comedy Night, is back at The Star of Kings on May 3rd. If you’ve never been to one of these, they’re quite simply the most fun you can have with your clothes on…and clothing on stage isn’t guaranteed with these nights! Headlining May 3rd we have that cheery bundle of joy, everyone’s favourite grumpy cabbie, Doug Graves. And then to put a final cherry on the night’s crazy cake we have the one and only Rev Pie-Crust (aka Paul Gardner).
Tuesday night at The Star of Kings turned out a really fun show full of new faces. First up was Danny Scott and the joys of being a teacher in the garden of England, which is just behind the Greggs of Kent. Next was James White who hasn’t, as of today, bought a plastic bag in five years; he just steals them now. After James we had another James this one James Danielewski and the suitable punishment for putting milk in your tea first: chain them to a radiator. Just ask Boy George! It was then the turn of Matthew
So it was G&B’s 8th Birthday! last night and what a truly awesome show it turned out to be. I couldn’t have been happier with everything from the turnout to the line-up. Nights like this one make everything so worthwhile. I even had a tear in my eye at several points during the night…which hasn’t happened since the 80’s! Kicking off the night was a familiar face to everyone who gigged at The Royal George last year, the simply hilarious Steven Mayne. Steven popped the night’s cork with a simply beautiful intro that would have had me blushing if I
Last night at The Star of Kings was G&B’s Music & Character Comedy Night. Now these have to be one of my absolute favourite shows. What I love most about these is spotting the audience members who’ve never been to one before, and their ever-building look of WFT! Throughout the evening. And that’s the sheer joy of them, an evening that is a strap yourself in and go with the vibe that never fails to bring the goods…the goods being a comedy rollercoaster ride to crazy town. You just have to come see one of these nights and you’ll be
