Thursday night at The Royal George Charing Cross Road was an absolute cracker of a show. First to the stage was the hilarious Michael Campuzano and why his father should go back where he belongs; Michael desperately wants to visit Spain. Next was Ian Colyer and why those penny farthing gridlocks are getting out of hand in Brighton. It was then over to Fred Bell and his collection of Victorian maladies. Steve Hawthorne the told us of the essential millenary for hospital visits. After Steve we had Augustus Gloop’s stunt double, aka Chuck Mason. We then had Bloody Marie and the oh so dry January before Aarian Mehrabani told us just what a dirt dog he really is. Closing the first half was the hilarious Phil Green and when being competitive gets seriously out of hand.
After the break, and a little mind reading card magic, the fabulous Mj Hunter kicked things off with some advice on how to put on a condom. Next was Sarah Atkinson and everything from cage diving with crocodiles to balloon modelling with kids. It was then over to Tony Carr and what NOT to do if a kid bites you. Lucy Atkinson then told us about London’s canine underground lap dancing scene before George Elcock gave us some great advice from his Irish mother. We then had Nick Bain and the Irish skin parties. Our penultimate act was Graham James, a man who bears the weight of his name stoically. Closing the show was the simply fabulous Richard Wheatley (pictured). Richard gave us Hogwarts for the blind, the problems with parrots and the bad designs of those oversized disabled loos.
Well that was a really fun night. Headlining next Thursday we’ve Dov Citron and David Ferguson.
