write-up by guest MC Mj Hunter

Monday night at the Star of Kings was another absolutely cracking night! Lucy Jenner confessed to a very specific romantic preference, the illiterate. Jackie Sea revealed he’d used the most reliable method to discover his sexuality: a Buzzfeed quiz. Dave Aron, a man fluent in three languages, generously attempted to cram every tip for learning them into five minutes. Sofia Cano shared her tragic relocation tale, moving to the UK for a man and his house, only to discover it was in zone 6. Tony Matthews, aka “Tony Lama,” proved that even the Dalai Lama needs a dancing body double. Rosie G came to heal us from our distraction-filled lives, while Sam Day showed off his uncanny resemblance to Ed Sheeran, Ron Weasley, and Chesney from Coronation Street. Closing the first half, Declan Evans gave his take on the new police initiative, which might not be quite as subtle as they imagine.
The second half began with Gavin Web, who recalled the one time his dad cried, and even then blamed it on something in his eye, a javelin. Adam Woolf discovered that no matter how much he tells women in the audience that he’s married, they persist in throwing themselves at him. Rob Jones is forever being judged by the Scottish voice in his head. Ben Kirby is exactly the kind of man mothers want their daughters to marry, unfortunately, the daughters disagree. Cameron Holder educated us on the riskier tactics gay men employ to date one another. Then Leon Brehony, a frustrated millennial, left school just in time for kids to stop bullying altogether. Sudeepta Sanyal moved to London to be a writer, earned her degree, and is now, inevitably, unemployed. Mel Dram, having outlived Jesus, is officially beating him at his own game. Closing the night, Sallyann Fellowes (pictured) used her Cornish upbringing to deliver the devastating truth about how Ginsters pasties are really made. Some things, once heard, cannot be unheard.
Another absolutely fantastic night at the Star of Kings, join us next week for more!
