Wednesday, September 17th, The Bell

Jim Hooker
Wednesday at The Bell turned out a busy and buzzing night. Kicking off the comedy we had the fabulous Jonny Brace and a ditty about reading between the lines. Next was Sam Day, a child of divorce and congenital asthma. We then had Nick Morey, who can’t stand people who say “they can’t see colour”, because those types always cheat at Twister. After nick was Amber Phillips, who Ian’t gonna be on master chef and time soon. It was then over to Jordan Bonner, whose teens were traumatised by a lack of homophobia at home. Tony Carr was next with his old school medical diagnosis: he’s thick. Hot on Tony’s heels was Aarian Mehrabani, who says he’s more of a dog person than a baby person, largely because they don’t do guide babies. It was then over to Sofia Cano, who had a liberal breakdown recently thanks to Tommy Robinson. Closing the first half was Mj Hunter, who explained to us all what a “girthy” moon cup was.
After the break, and a little find the lady card magic, we got off to a great start thanks to the hilarious Declan Evans and some tips on how to be bilingual. Ian Colyer then gave us a good argument at to why smoking should be allowed in pubs before Kamien Deane confessed that his superpower is crippling anxiety. Next was Mark Kendrick Johnson, a man from Kentucky who’s been getting guns for his birthday since he was old enough to dress his own Barbies. We then had Dylan Almeida. Dylan’s from Kuwait, the Brighton of the Gulf States. Our penultimate act was Gordon MacSween, who educated our younger audience members on how to properly cuss. Our evening’s headliner was the brilliant Jim Hooker (pictured). Jim’s a man forging his way in life as a Phil Mitchel stunt double who just can’t resist a sexy Virgin Atlantic flight.
So that was a fun night. Headlining next Wednesday we have Colin D.H. Smith and Eoghan Collins.
