Thursday night at Royal George Charing Cross Road was an absolute cracker of a night, buzzing, busy and with acts one after the other bringing A game sets. Kicking off the show was Gabriel Celaya and the ethical conundrum that is dating your therapist. Next was Jenny Jope and the dangers of restless leg syndrome. After Jenny was Marco Del Valle and the international diversity or chlamydia. After Marco was Roger Clarke (pictured) and why you have to pour the cornflakes out the box in the same direction as the beak. Will Usherwood-Bliss, an act who ironically left the audience speechless. We then had Sky (aka Kym Nelson) who gave us some great advice on spiritual and entitled posing. Hot on Sky’s heels was Danielle Scott who confessed to having set light to her tit with a bunsen burner at school. Sam Gray then told us just why he’s not into trendy food…he’s just not that into dust. Evan Henley then told us of his faboiurvite 17th century mathematician and his prowess, from an early age, with quadratic equations. Closing the first half was the hilarious Gareth Beavis and why you should never listen to anyone who tells you to throw your hands in the air. It’s just an unnecessarily violent act.
After the break the brilliant Sonny Savage got things going with why his sneezing is just too far right. Next was Ciaran the inferno Walsh, a man who can maybe take a punch. After Cairan was Stas Kuz, who grew up in a Polish household. So he was in his 20’s before he realised cucumber doesn’t have to be pickled. Jasynda Radanovic was next with just why Aussies walk the way they do and why their feet are crispy. It was then over to Matt Brenner who only eats birds; he hates them and wants them gone one roast at a time. Ellis Strong then told us just why he doesn’t trust swans: he just doesn’t like anything that’s protected by the Royal family. We then had Ben Cooper, a man who may be bad luck for prospective couples. Our penultimate act was Lucy Atkinson, who has been enjoying her local dog cafe, until she discovered it’s not a pet cafe and no one knows where the dogs are coming from. Closing the show was the fabulous Nick Bain and some interesting Gaelic translations that everyone should know if they want to party.
