Sunday, February 8th, Star of Kings

Alex J. Byrne
Write-up by guest MC MJ Hunter
We had a fantastic afternoon at The Star of Kings on Sunday we got off to a cracking start thanks to Kieran Doherty and a masterclass in the surprising benefits of baldness, delivered with all the authority of a supply teacher who’s seen it all. Next up was Robert Idel, who questioned whether Germans really are the life and soul of certain social gatherings. We then had Alex J. Byrne (pictured), who dazzled the audience with his magical skills, though local restaurants may be less impressed with his uncanny ability to make handkerchiefs disappear. After Alex came James Streeter, who generously shared his extensive research into the world of online adult entertainment. Freddie Cornwell followed with a big family milestone: his mum came to see him, for the first time in 20 years…which does raise a few questions about where she’s been. Next was Jake Lyons, celebrating a triumphant return to the dating scene and the adventures that come with it. Then Ian Colyer explained why skinny jeans were never for him, mainly because he’d rather not receive a full medical diagnosis while still wearing them. Closing the first half was Michael Campuzano, who took us through the unique frustrations of growing up in Crawley, particularly when your dad has moved there from Spain.
After the break, the show continued with Prakash Mistry, who confessed he’s had just about enough of AI Artificial Indians, that is. Grace Miller then returned to G&B after surviving what she described as the worst two months of her life. Next up was Karun Sandal, who’s discovered Uber may be the key to reconnecting with long-lost relatives. Stingo Murphy dropped by to recount the time he tried to watch cooking-themed adult content but got so distracted he ended up making the recipe instead. After Stingo came Chuck Mason, a man blessed with many celebrity lookalikes. The most accurate being, unfortunately, a McDonald’s chicken nugget. Danielle Scott followed, sharing how anger management is helping her cope with the strange world of biohackers and their increasingly odd ideas. Our penultimate act was Kudzu Sagnette, whose mixed-race daughter is already showing the best of both worlds although she’s only able to half dance. Closing the show was the brilliant Barbara Fernandez, who sang us through the wild adventure of her life, from illegally living in Paris to the unforgettable moment her own dad failed to recognise her. So that was a fun Sunday night at The Star of Kings. Join us next week for more!
