There was a great atmosphere at The Star of Kings Monday night and the comedy got off to a cracking start thanks to the hilarious Calvin Smith (pictured – the tall one) and the big difference between male and female psychology on apps. Next was Tom Draper and the trauma of being a mini museum bouncer. We then had Kieran Dee and Mr Fannyrashers, who really should change his first name. It was then over to Gav Webb and the dinner invite he’ll never accept. After Gavin was Aarian Mehrabani and the cultural confusion of the golden Iranian cock. Paul Rowinski then told us he’s half Sicilian and half Cornetto. It was then over to Nick Morey (whom you can see headline on Wednesday at The Bell) and when a wheelbarrow is the most heteronormative way to carry your luggage. Hot on Nick’s heels was Mani Ahmed who wondered if circumcision did indeed make halal meat. Closing the first half was the fabulous Martina O’Sullivan and the sherbety taste of our Lord and Saviour’s private parts and Sad Bob’s first communion.
After the break, and a little mystery that showed how bitterness can be magical, the comedy got going thanks to the hilarious Phil Green, a man hitting his second youth…at full speed and fully insured. Next was Evan Henley and comedy gold. Or should I say comedy Au…in morse code. It was then over to Chris Warburton, a man too often bullied by the McDonald’s upsell. After Chris was Jack Clerkin and the hot date than was no snakes and ladders…or lube. It was then over to It’s Nate who reckons Peckham will never get its Riviera prefix. The fabulous Chris Ford then lamented the fact he has no neurodiversity, to is struggling to find a marketable dating personality. Our penultimate act was Freddie Cornwell and the kick in the nuts that changed his childhood, if only the diet part of it. Closing the show was the brilliant Stuart Turner (pictured) and some mind boggling magic including making beer from nothing and having everyone wonder if they were hallucinating citrus fruit.
So that was a fun Monday night. Next Monday our annual All Stars competition kicks off with the G&B All Stars Heat #1 at The Star of Kings. Who will end being the 2026 G&B All Star?
