Tuesday, July 26th, Star of Kings

Write-up by guest MC Gary Manhine. It was an exciting night at The Star of Kings on Tuesday, what with basement floods and excited uproarious crowds upstairs enjoying England’s Lioness’s in the final of the Euro 2022. Nonetheless, a basement blast ensued as we kicked things off with the brilliant David Ian, who’s been getting dates to come around to his flat, just to force him to clean before they arrived. Next up was the sensational Ben Pollard, who’s been working on a book exploring the behind the scenes truth about the dog-kicking, incontinent, sausage fingered Tory party. All the

Tuesday, July 19th, Star of Kings

Write-up by guest MC, Gary Manhine. Last night was the hottest ever-recorded in human history. The beer was at boiling point at The Star of Kings and but the audience melted down the stairs to worship at the alter of air conditioning. Some came for the AC, some for the comedy and it was a scorcher. First up was George Williams, who had been playing Deal or no Deal with his alcohol intake and the consequences therein, including playing drunken MasterChef after a night out resulting in a tasty dish of self-loathing. Next up was the brilliant Callum Mackenzie, who

Wednesday, March 9th, Arch One

So it was a packed night at Arch1 last night, with a whole load of new faces both on and off stage and they ended up with a cracking show…both on and off stage. First up was the hilarious Matthew Healy who’s a bit like a learner driver when it comes to sex, he just pushes and turns everything in the hope of something getting turned on. We then had the return of the brilliant Amber Phillips and the problems of getting back out into the world post lockdown and the daily hassle of bras again. It was then over

Wednesday, March 3rd, Arch One

I’ve said it several times since lockdown ended, the standard of comedy coming from the new acts arriving on the circuit is seriously impressive. Maybe it was 18 months watching Netflix comedy specials or studying their comedy idols, but whatever it is, the G&B audiences are loving it. Opening the show last night we had Tom Cousins, who might be a serial killer in waiting…if his mattress’s damp crop circles are anything to go by. It was then over to Joey Abels and why sublime is no compliment if you’re a lemon. The utter legend that is Jimbo was after

Sunday, February 6th, Star of Kings

Yesterday’s Sunday afternoon comedy at The Star of Kings was another of our Growing Old Disgracefully shows…and did it live up to its name! Kicking things off we had the wonderful Theresa Bradstreet and the arid joys of the menopause. It was then over to Nicu Tematoru who regardless of how many people he knows doing it, he refuses to shave his legs. Next was the mellifluous marvel that is Barbara Fernandez, who sang at her ex-agent’s funeral. Turns out the security was sorely lax. It was then over to Ben Henley, winner of the evening’s Harold Shipman look-a-like competition

Sunday, November 28th, Girlpower at The Star of Kings

Yesterday at The Star of Kings was G&B’s Girlpower, and what a cracker it was. Our MC for the afternoon was the wonderful Charlotte McKinney who kept the crowd loving the Girlpower vibe. The first act Charlotte brought to the stage was Lily Webb, who is easily the greatest example of opposites attract you’ll ever find. Next was Sarah Bowles, a lady who knows way too much about her neighbours’ sex life thanks to bad sound insulation. It was then over to Phoebe Hitt and the joys of the friendship lunge, which she will be copyrighting very soon. After Phoebe
