Tuesday, June 13th, The Albany

comedy at The Albany
Tuesdays are our busy night at G&B with two shows in two separate venues. I was at The Albany, while Callum was over at The Star of Kings. First up at The Albany was the hilarious Gav Webb, who is looking forward to winter, and its possible inheritance potential… It was then over to Ali Shahrukhi and the many reasons he hates thinking of his parents having sex. Next was Pat Smith and the most romantic and considerate gift he ever gave his ex: a full tank of petrol so she could leave. It was then over to Róisín Lonergan and the joys of parenting kids whom you’ve imbued with maybe too much confidence. After raisin was Alexander Tang, who loves seeing white people waiting in Chinese restaurants, stealing back some jobs. Hot on Alexander’s heels we had Tracey Bowman and everything from Mr Floppy to the Twix alley conundrum. All very educating. We then had Peri Whyte, who has some serious doubts as to the overall design of the human body. After Peri was Frances Jane (pictured) whose mum is always worried she’s not getting enough milk in her cereal. Closing the first half was the prop chaos of the brilliant Neil Ben. Neil hit us with everything from the end of time and Smartie pants to throw away gags and elephants.
After the break we had a bit of lottery fun magic before getting off to a cracking start with Ed Kear and just why sex with the lights on devolves to shitting with the door open and the death of romance. Ola Olukanni was next with some reasons why he’ll never get a job with the Croydon tourist board before Tristan Wolfe confessed to feeling a little queer at school. And no, that wasn’t a Schofield gag. It was then the turn of Jonathan Stadlen whom at the age of 15 in an attempt to not look like Ian McKellan, was given Just for Boys hair dye. The evening’s penultimate act was Sandhya Anantharaman, who thanks to her mum had a virtual PHD in economics before she could even spell compound interest. Closing the show was the one and only, fabulous and outrageous, Pam Ford. Pam confessed to having gotten busy with the fizzy on her birthday. She also told us she’s 7 year’s single and is now getting that 7 year itch…for which she now has a cream.
So that wa last night at The Albany. Headlining next Tuesday we have the brilliantly bizarre Moss (aka James Watkins) and the simply hilarious Laura Gómez. Hopefully see you then.
