Monday, October 13th, Star of Kings

Prakash Mistry
We had a great time last night at The Star of Kings – it began with Aarian Mehrabani, who works as an adult entertainer, though not the kind you might think. Next up was Sam Day, the proud owner of a tribute from Robbie Williams himself – an order to appear in court. We then had Mel Dram. As a Canadian, Mel is anticipating becoming an American any day now – if they can get her out of Heathrow’s terminal 4. Prakash Mistry (pictured) then shared the only Indian takeaway he’s prepared to cook up – his heritage – before Martin Ashworth ranted about a very inconsiderate guy in his new job – himself, in his interview the month before. Ziad Samaha then shared his solution to surviving in the UK with his mixed heritage: he has had to gentrify himself. Rosie G (Rosie Gray) gave us a trigger warning for her set: it contains content that hasn’t been seen since the Pleistocene era. Closing our first half was the fabulous Mark Vincent. Mark doesn’t recommend you look up your family tree – you might get squirrel poo in your eye. Left behind by gentrification, Mark bemoans the pubs who won’t allow street food – where, then, can he dine on his roadkill?
Our second half kicked off with Nick Bain who gave us excellent advice about hygiene (keep the San Pelligrino out of it) before Elle Simmons had to stop mid BJ to ask hubby if he’d done the essential: put dinner in the oven. Mario Kyriacou shared the most concerning thing about having a friend who has done prison time – that they call you their friend – followed by Kamien Deane Comedian who hides his performances behind a pseudonym – in case work colleagues decide he’s not boring enough for his job. Tom Falco asked how to get onto the property ladder – he really needs a ladder – followed by Anna Borup. Anna loves being a hypochondriac: when it comes to other people’s troubles, she always feels one of the gang. Candace Elise Redden then shared her husband’s expertise – getting close to anything without making a full landing, which includes both the dishwasher and herself. Rosie Wood gave us how to transform making coffee as a barista into an otherworldly experience where no one knows what they’re doing, before our fabulous closing act, Phil Green, shared his secret to perfect skin – not having procreated. Phil now dedicates his time to his grownup kids – newly divorced middle-aged men – who he lures to his home for interventions with a trail of pork scratchings and old episodes of Top Gear.
So that was our night – join us next Monday on October 20th with the mighty Power Ranger that is the hilarious Matthew Mj Hunter and the fabulously funny Tony Carr.
