It was a scorcher of a show at The Star of Kings on Sunday. Kicking things off was Rosie Gray, who gave us a crash course in mouse-ogyny and what a neanderthal compliment sounds like. Up next was Evan Henley, a highly-credentialled junior maths champion with spontaneous and unexpected questions aplenty. Will Snape then told us about his life in a band (mostly marching) and why bonfires aren’t great when they involve your car. Owen Stanley enlightened us about the wonderful world of retail and Primark’s similarities to Epstein Island before James Streeter explained why he feels called out every time he walks down his creaky stairs. The sartorially stylish Marco Del Valle was up next, confessing that he’s the world’s gayest coloniser with a nose like a bloodhound. Closing the first half was the hilarious Lee VG. Lee enjoys the occasional bit of Shandrew and Mandrew to let his hair down, but told us why you should never ‘score thrice’. Rumour has it he’s still working on that Rubik’s cube…
After the break, Eoghan Collins educated us on the original British: the Vikings, and gave some unorthodox horse-riding tips (but remember: neigh means neigh). Then it was the turn of Az Khan, a Pakistani millennial educated by Cartoon Network who has an unusual reason why her arranged marriage didn’t work out. Amit Aggarwal told us he became a lawyer for the sex appeal and moved to London to practise his Hindi, before Andrew Steel took time out from ranking AI girlfriends on Reddit to regale us with tales of the best times he’s had in a urinal. Oscar Farrimond really doesn’t like his past self (it turns out that guy shagged all his girlfriends and drank all his pints). Our penultimate act was Steve Hawthorne, who warned us against Dodgy Dave’s weight injections and told us why he likes to beat around the bush. Closing the show was the fabulous, flip-chart wielding Lottie Grogan (pictured). Lottie gave us a thorough education with Stand-up Comedy 101. From the pie chart of bars to the bar chart of pies, lessons were learned and Maltesers were thrown.
So that was our Sunday afternoon at The Star of Kings. Join us next Sunday 7th with the fabulously filthy Tracey Bowman and the brilliant poetic stylings of Tom Draper.
