Martina’s Sunday Service

Martina's Sunday Service
Sunday afternoon at The Star of Kings was Martina’s Sunday Service, our nod to God and comedy. Our hostess/priestess, Martina O’Sullivan (pictured), got things off to a great and pious start by bringing to the stage the fabulous Mark Vincent, a man who has lapsed his Catholicism, but is still looking for its potential replacement. After Mark was Paddy G and why the classic Good Friday is a faithful sub-par at best. It was then over to Rob McAlone. Rob was supposed to be at a house warming party this weekend, but he felt it was more than hot enough. After Rob was Anna Donald, who is living at the front line of Scottish sectarianism: the Glasgow Edinburgh divide. Neil Benson then told us about his workout regime: his leg day, his chest day and his Doris Day. Closing the first half was the fabulous Evan Henley. Evan went to a prestigious university, but it’s quite the task to get him to talk about it. But it came in handy on Sunday when he got to educate a physicist in the front row.
After the break, and my all time favourite card trick, we got off to a great start thanks to Roger Clarke and his fear of par carks. After Roger was Sobin ST, a man who struggles with a serious addiction, that of looking fabulous! It was then over to James Streeter, who went to a school with a priest that kept his hands to himself…so it was quite posh. Next was Matthew muh’lady who’d come all the way from Luton…on a day release, so he was taken back. Roger Gewolb then told us about one of the many reasons his wife might be siting in their divorce. The fabulous Az Khan was next with the breaking news that Cardi B is really just a wise Asian aunty. Our penultimate act was Alex Farrell, a man with a unique viewing style for reality TV talent shows. Closing the show was the one and only, simply fabulous Kim Hope, who reckons she wouldn’t make a good parent, despite giving off Peter Pan vibes, the kind that tell kids to just believe and jump out of windows.
