Sunday afternoon, October 18th, Royal George (Soho)

Jill Strassler
It was a fun afternoon at Royal George Charing Cross Road on Sunday. Kicking off the laughs was the hilarious Gareth Beavis and how to admit your contradictions. It was then over to Sobin ST, who’s not gay…despite what his friends think. After Sobin was Cushty and the Mary Poppins carpet bag that is his beard. We then had Margaret Saunderson and how to musically seduce a posh woman who’s got a five bed house. Mark Nicholas then told us what isn’t required in a West Ham fan’s eulogy before Georgia Thorp. Georgia told us where to get this season’s lesbian mother look. I say this season, but she’s been rocking the look since 1987.
Kicking off the second half, after a bit of weird and floaty card magic, we had the birthday herself, Jill Strassler (pictured), who has an issue with the carpeted seating of the District Line. Ellie Nguyen was next with why being short has robbed her of being able to say, “My eyes are up here!” It was then over to Neil Benson, whose mum was great with the positive affirmations. After Neil was Tony Matthews, and why it’s hard for people who can’t see colour to cross the road. The afternoon’s penultimate acts was the fabulously funny Luke Benjamin and why creatine shouldn’t be taken in lines. Closing the show was the brilliant Mark Vincent, a man whose blood has killed more mosquitoes than bug spray and whose prostate has grown to the size of a Halloween pumpkin.
