We had a busy afternoon at The Star of Kings on Sunday and the comedy kicked off wonderfully with Max Norman and doggy style laughs. We then had Joey Abels and the punnery of the draft before Graciela Martin explained just how the Victorians might have made life easier for themselves if they’d just had better skin care. Louie Falls then hit us with some food puns and the joys of being a vegan before Mr Corporate himself, Phillip Cornwall, stir fried some ideas in his thought wok. It was then over to Dipak Patel then explained why he doesn’t dare tell the Mrs he’s not keen on Kent. After dip was Tony Carr and the Tower Bridge image we’ll never forget. After Tony was Valerie Steele and the flare to get noticed at the bar. We then had some Royal impressions from Phillip Reiss with everything from stamps to coins and hairlines. Kimberly Policella was next with why life begins at number four… That’s the fourth husband to those who’re still on those rookie 1st marriages. Closing the first half was the hilarious Rob Ash. Rob has had some spectacular heckles lately, from pupils in his class. My favourite is he’s so ugly not even Cilit would bang him.
After the break we got off to a cracking start with Jim Hooker and how to go from hero to Prince Andrew in one bus trip. Amy Gibbons was next with googley eyes and belly before Marc Cox explained why despite his international spelling, he’s actually very British. It was then over to Ajayta Rai and the joyous relief of an NHS escape crap. Next was Kerry Thompson, who tells us he’s a ex-step dad, which the least dad you can possibly be. It was then the turn of Maria Teresa (pictured), who was channelling every bit of her Colombian heritage before Maggie Sobieszek confessed to maybe being a sociopath. It was then over to Stephen Portlock and Hamlet, his support dog, and the metaphysics of the London Underground. The afternoon’s penultimate act was the hilarious Vic Blunt, who told us of the time she dodged a relationship bullet with a guy who was clearly punching above his weight anyway. Closing the show was the awesome Aussie that is Kim Hope. Kim loves the stealth rudeness of the Brits. She also told us how her dream job used to be a wine-taster…aka professional pisshead.
So that was another fun Sunday afternoon at The Star of Kings. Headlining next Sunday we have the wonderful Jack Spoole and the glorious craziness of Sue-the-Cleaner and Julie (aka Liam Harney and Rhyan Orrick).
