Sunday afternoon, Star of Kings, May 5th

It was a busy Sunday at The Star of Kings yesterday, kicking off with G&B Writers’ Group just after midday. I think it’s fair to say the writers’ group meetings are proving a great success. Yesterdays was a really interesting one and I’m already looking forward to seeing what the acts attending come up with. After the Writers group, of course, we had the show and kicking things off there was the hilarious Emily Cairns and her sexy, sexy accordion. Emily treated us to a song dedicated to her one love, that special love that comes along once in your

Wednesday, Arch One, May 25th

I’m feeling a bit spolied as an MC this week because the last two shows were packed with just the most wonderful audiences who couldn’t have made my job any easier. Last night at Arch1 they were a cracking crowd and first to experience their love was Greg Houston, who reckons basketball players have absolutely no rom for error if they’re to get paid big bucks. The wonderful Mimi Chan was next with how a bag of Dreams can have you living the high life like a letchy Trump. It was then over to Ryan Sheehan and the Dirty Harry

Sunday, May 15th, Star of Kings

We had another great Sunday at The Star of Kings this evening. Kicking things off we had Callum Mackenzie whose favourite British drinking game is Me vs My Organs. Next was Andy Kyte and everything from Gandhi to stylish millinery and mobile cheese. What’s not to love. It was then over to Candace Bryan who left the US because of its guns and racism for the Uk and its free health care and its slightly less racism. After Candace we had Tom Vousden, a recovering incel who loves some Earl Grey and a bit of quiet shade…so a bit of

Arch One, March 30th

It was another packed house at Arch1 last night with a great crowd that was so wonderfully up for laughs. And they got that a plenty. First up was Joey Abels and why giving someone a number 2 all over is fine if you’re a barber, but just nasty if you’re a fecalfeliac. We then had the musical musings of Barbara Fernandez, a lady you don’t want to piss off or she’ll sing at your funeral…like it or not! After Barbara was Matthew Healy a man with the bowels of the noble kariboo, who’ll search far and wide for the

Sunday, March 13th, Star of Kings

Sunday afternoon at The Star of Kings with Jake O’Brien Murphy, a man so committed to his comedy he came to the club straight from a colonoscopy, which by the sounds of it was done by Dyno-Rod. We then had a memorable set from Christof Epaminondas. Unfortunately, it was Christof’s cousin, Gabriel, that we’ll all be remembering. Duffy Connors was after Christof with some tips on what to do if your ferry is delayed. Next was Dora Flowers and why you should always swat up on your molecular biology before a first date. It was then over to Joey Abels

Wednesday, March 3rd, Arch One

I’ve said it several times since lockdown ended, the standard of comedy coming from the new acts arriving on the circuit is seriously impressive. Maybe it was 18 months watching Netflix comedy specials or studying their comedy idols, but whatever it is, the G&B audiences are loving it. Opening the show last night we had Tom Cousins, who might be a serial killer in waiting…if his mattress’s damp crop circles are anything to go by. It was then over to Joey Abels and why sublime is no compliment if you’re a lemon. The utter legend that is Jimbo was after

Wednesday, February 23rd, Arch One

We were at Arch1 last night and what a cracking show it turned out to be. Getting the crowd off to a brilliant start was the hilarious Sam Adamson with sex toys, playground oddities and inflatable siblings. It was then over to Duffy Connors and a few tips on how to make those ferry journeys fly by before Tino Giaccotto told us he’d moved here to learn English, but after two years working in a restaurant, he’s now fluent in Spanish and Polish, but no better with English. After Tino was Phillip Cornwall, escaping from the corporate world one reclaimed

Sunday, December 12th, Star of Kings

As we head closer to Christmas, the party buzz at the club gets livelier with each gig and yesterday’s Sunday show at The Star of Kings was no exception. Kicking things off we had the fabulous Lisa Carroll. Lisa describes herself as the BFG with tits and despite intimidating some men says she’s a fucking kitten! It was then over to Benjamin Bryant who’s had to endure a conversation with someone recently that was so peppered with racist dog whistles it’s a wonder dogs weren’t howling outside. Next was Flora Butter, a lady from a long line of nutritious spreads
