March 20th at The Royal George was another great Thursday of comedy. First to the stage was the brilliant Tony O’Hara. Tony’s been over in England for over 20 years now, but has still kept his Irish accent and blood type. Next was Paul Little and some great tattoo ideas. After Paul was Stanislav Gunko and a definition of MILF you wouldn’t expect. The amazing Indi Madray was after Stanislav and she let us know just what she thought of her ex’s cum face. It was then over to Phillip Reiss, who’ll one day be living off the land…in his own unique, titular way. Jonathan Godsi then hit us with a non-stop barrage of one-liners and puns before Fred Bell told us why working from home allows him the luxury to fart to his heart;’s content on video meetings. Hot on Fred’s heels was Dipak Patel and heavy metal nursery rhymes. After Dipak was Sam Mullen and how a friend selfishly ruined 9/11 for him. Closing the first half we had Calvin Smith and why Alzheimer clinics are a great place to test new material and why shaving your balls for the first time is tantamount to amateur bomb disposal.
After the break we kicked off with some celebrity magic before the hilarious Mj Hunter let us in on a little PC lyric hack for rap songs. It was then over to Harrie Hayes whose mum has the deepest respect for…well, Harrie will let us know as soon as she finds out. Next was Emily Taylor who for the life of her couldn’t show shock, horror or surprise. Henry Dearden then explained how masturbate into a panic attack before Lauren Buck confessed to being the founder member of the frequent cryer club. It was then over to Tony Carr, who gave some great tips on how to get invited to the best wakes. After Tony was Jay Middleton, trying some new material…as he reliably informed us several times. The evening’s penultimate act was the fabulous punnery of James Loveless and why he’s given up his usual dialing format on his dick-ta-phone. Closing the show was the brilliant Charlie Firth (pictured). Charlie’s mum might have an unreasonable view of his love life and his local charity shop of his preferred shoe style.
So that was another great Thursday at Royal George Charing Cross Road. Headlining next Thursday we’ve Indi Madray and Barbara Fernandez.
