Wednesday, May 1st, The Bell

Abi Getto
So Wednesday we were at The Bell and that was a fun night. First to the stage was The Best Man (aka Max Norman), Jonty’s mate who knows a thing or two about awkward moments. It was then over to Pete Kinsella who was recently dumped during his ex’s most recent emotional portfolio reshuffling. Next was Declan Kennedy, a man who knows his limits. Those limits being Brazilian accents. After Declan was Deniro B Stocks who stays clear of coffee as he knows just what a gateway drug it can be. It was then over to Mac O’Donnell who’s not keen on lazy charity challenges. Hot on Mac’s heels was Tony Carr who’s discovered just how to stop dogs biting. Chris Chapman was next with muddy boots and gluten free dating before Jamie Henderson told us the tale of a date gone bad, real bad. After Jamie was Declan Evans who for a moment thought he’d discovered a follow Essex friend…but no.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to Jack Scullion. Look out for his new book, The Ballad of Poundland Murphy. After Jack was Tom Draper, a poet with big ambitions: he wants to be published by TFL. It was then over to Abi Getto (pictured) who may be gestating the next Ted Bundy any day now. After Abu was Mj Hunter. Just don’t call him Pussy; he gets flashbacks to Christmas dinner as a kid. It was then the turn of David Owootomo, who’s a big fan of Lizzo’s flute playing, before Katie Edkins showed her appreciation for all that applause she got during lockdown. The fabulous Paul Little was the evening’s penultimate act. Paul suffers from tinnitus, brought on by too much exposure to Gary Barlow. Closing the show we had the simply brilliant Sallyann Fellowes. Sallyann had them in absolute stitches with everything from homophobic insects to psychological cholera to wigged up moths and Cornish cave people.
So that was a great night. We’ve no show at The Bell next Wednesday, due to a diary malfunction by management, but we’ve a great show on the Tuesday with headliners Arthur Mitchell and our reigning queen of the All Stars, the hilarious Kim Hope.
