G&B Wednesdays at Arch One

It was a great night at Arch1 last night with a racker of a crowd. First to the stage was the hilarious Leo Wax and the misnomer of the chubby chaser. Paul Little then explained how to get the best haircut: kidnap your barber’s family, apparently. Charlie Jackson the explained how to have the best quality bath…complete with Flipchart. Michael Panin was next with news of his sell-out Brighton world tour before Lina Haman told us of her family gene pool, which has a greater LGBT output than a rainbow flag sweatshop. Laura Varriale then explained the occasional drink while pregnant requires the Schofield defence: It’s not illegal. It was then over to Jack Spoole who now knows excessive staring at a bit of meat on the tube is indeed sexual harassment…even if it is a McDonald’s. Next was Miraj Mehta who recently had a promotion at work, which is what drove him back to comedy. Hot on Miraj’s heels was Eli Hart and and the big question: how old is too old to buy compost? Closing the first half was Mr Corporate, Phillip Cornwall. Phil had the crowd unleashing their inner thought rhinos, stir frying their creativity in their thought wok while thinking outside the dodecahedron.
After the break, and the crowd defining just what playing card best represents Paul Little, we got off to a cracking start with Phil Zimmerman, aka Mr Burns, the demented Mick jagger impersonator on the Heinz Beans diet. Charlie Firth then gave us the educational tale of the bitmoji before Brendan King confessed to being a bit of a weird kid at school, who grew into a weird adult. It was then over to Jon Wickham (pictured) who, thanks to Phil Cornwall, tried to work thought some of his double act divorce woes. We then had Harry Turner who gave us everything from politics to rock legend impressions and a knob gag. Henning Nilsen then shared with us that he recently suffered some racial abuse…someone called him Swedish! After Henning was James Quigley, who recently had to face the idea he might have been rougher than he remembered back during his GCSEs. The evening’s penultimate act was Katie Tweddle who wonders if there should be an acceptable break-up attire. Closing the show was Connor Yeates. Connor was a very popular lad at school, with the clergy. But they taught him how to appreciate a taste for the finer things. After all, in the words of Gordon Ramsey, you should always taste what you make.
Well that was our last show of the summer at Arch1. Next time we’re at The arch is September 6th. See you then.
