G&B’s Abandoning The Comfort Zone

Tuesday night at The Star of Kings was G&B’s Abandoning The Comfort Zone Show show, the night where everyone tries their hands at something completely different. These shows are so much fun and you never know quite what’s going to unfold as the night goes on. First to the stage, and just off the stage, was Nicky Vere-Compton and Rubynia Reubens with song song, silliness and salty tears. It was then over to Luke Harrower and some alphabetical riffing before Mark Rivlin gave some great tips on how to properly hustle your side hustle. Tracey Bowman, aka Julie from Ann Summers, then gave us a demonstration of this season’s sex toys and accessories. It was then over to The Godfather of Tring (aka Neil Ben), and how to speak gangsta and help make the world a better place. Tiger then hit us with some crowd work and legalised weed before Katie Tweddle got sexy with the bassoon. After Katie we had Joey Abels and some AI comedy bingo. Closing the first half was sketch duo, The Slack Janets (aka Sallyann Fellowes and Martin Dixon) and everything from nuns and man holes to bugs in showers and avoiding the Bee Gee.
After the break, and a bit of Hellstromism mindreading magic, we got off to a great start thanks to Maria the tarot reader (aka Antonio Fadda) who gave us an insight to the future of G&B. Valerie Steele then got into some yoga, despite bad knees before Darvo from Blaker’s Dozen (aka Declan Kennedy) hit us with some sci-fi nostalgia and that famous catchphrase from his 70’s TV career. Next was Ankit Grover who said he got to the UK via the right channel: the English Channel. The evening’s penultimate act was the hilarious Keely from the spa (aka Caroline Madds – pictured) with some special offers and spa etiquette. Closing the show was the glorious lunacy of Colin D.H. Smith and some great advice on how to spice up your sex life and run an efficient orgy. I think I speak for everyone there last night when I say the high point of the evening was when a bunch of people from upstairs wandered in mid set as Colin was demonstrating with sausages on sticks and cucumbers just how a multiple pile on can be achieved safely.
So that was another Abandoning the Comfort Zone night and it was, as always, an utter joy. Headlining at The Star of Kings next Tuesday we have Moss (aka James Watkins) and Chris Ford.
