Monday, January 19th, Star of Kings

Sam Day & MJ Hunter
As you can see from the picture, we had quite a night at The Star of Kings yesterday. First up was @kierandee who was looking rather lost – it seems he’d misplaced his hair. Next was Martin Ashworth, who really enjoyed getting started in marketing – where a hair follicle can double up as a shaft. Steve Anderson then shared how he looks exactly like Ed Sheeran – if he’d just inhaled his guitar. We then had Rob McAlone who has a hack for surviving awkward social gatherings in the men’s loo – that powder isn’t gonna disappear by itself – before Tony Matthews gave us the Dalai Llama breaking out the moves after a tough day of being spiritual. Anna Luda gave us some new words to understand Poland – after-school clubs are called shifts – before our closing headliner of the first half, the fabulous Stanislav Gunko, broke the news to his dad that he’s staying in the UK and never returning to Russia. Too bad his dad doesn’t speak English. Stan isn’t a spy though – the only code he knows is for the loo in his local Starbucks.
Our second half kicked off with Matthew Mj Hunter. MJ demonstrated why the people who work with him are no longer allowed to say ‘pigeon hole’ – it’s one hole too many. We then had @ajay who shared a secret hack that he and his fellow people from India use whenever they encounter a suspicious pie and mash: chili sauce. It was then over to Marco Del Valle. Marco pointed out that as he was the 2nd Asian on the bill, if we had a 3rd one he’d throw in a 4th for free. Ferdy Turral then gave us his fully enlarged, laminated baby picture – which, as a young man, doesn’t travel well if you’re stopped by the police. Jake Kilov provided an ode to glory holes in petrol stations before our closing headliner, the wonderful Sam Day (pictured), who gave us a live rendition (ably helped by MJ Matthew Mj Hunter) of 2001 – A Space Odyssey (well, he changed one of the words but you’ll have to see him perform to find out which one). Sam has a fine reputation in the entertainment community given what he received from Robbie Williams – a court order.
So that was our night at the Star – join us on January 26th with the utterly hilarious David Ferguson and the sensational Phil Green.
