Monday night at The Star of Kings got off to a musical start thanks to Barbara Fernandez and the mystery of the missing husbands. Next was Freddie Cornwell and the Artful Dodger. After Freddie was Simon Draper, a man who just can’t get away from his resting old Bill face. It was then over to Sophie Holly and her West African nipple hair before Evan Henley did a bit of a multilingual, high fibre Q&A with the audience. After Evan was Marco Del Valle, a man with an exotic look and the voice of of Shoreditch podcaster. Ilan Ganani then told the audience he was doing his best to be a world class alcoholic. We then had Tony Matthews, a comic from the Far East…Poplar. Hot on Tony’s heels was Kieran Dee, a man who is part of the world’s most abused workforce. No, not a traffic warden. He’s a substitute teacher. Closing the first half was the hilarious Willow Marler (pictured) and why you’ll never find certain watercolours on Antiques Roadshow or Gandalf in size 8s.
Kicking off the evening’s second half was Ed Kear, a man who has seen the full career arch of several of his favourite porn stars. Next was Andy Laird and why slagging off your workmates in a set isn’t a great idea…if they’re the audience. Tony Carr then told us just why he doesn’t like dick pics. We then had Gareth Neale (longer set!) And the trauma of the fairy axe wound. It was then over to Eoghan Collins and why Hamlet and Romeo are a pair of dicks. After Eoghan was Paul Rowinski whose pronouns, nationalities and cultures just don’t get on. Next we had Julia Holden and why clowning is and energy best described as annoying! We then had Alex Green and why his partner wants him to throw himself off a cliff. Our penultimate act was Jasynda Radanovic, someone who regrets having a name that is way too easy for dates to Google. Closing the show as the fabulous Rosie G, who’s nailing the whole neanderthal impressions…now she’s married by their ancient ritual.
