So Monday night at The Star of Kings was a quieter night than usual, but what we may have lacked in large numbers we more than made up for in big talent; it was an incredible evening of comedy. First to the stage was the hilarious Luke Harrower, who is apparently as bad as his nemesis Jim Carey in life’s game of shag, marry, kill. It was then over to Declan Evans, another Jim Carey fan, but Declan would prefer Carey to just stuck to doing Carey. Next was Bertie Lambert, a man who’s still not sure he’s quite taken with his own name. It was then over to Barbora Beránková and just why to this day she remains suspicious of Italian women. It was then over to Ollie Taylor who’s not a lover of horror movies…or evil kids! After Ollie was Will Earle, who if he could go back in time to meet his teenage self, he doubts he could resist bully him, too. We then had Seraj Alijan who s a kid was told to question everything, except some things that were beyond questioning. Closing the first half was David Ferguson, who was on absolutely cracking form. David was a big fan of Cilla Black, the woman who looks a bit like Ronald McDonald with hair straighteners and without the make-up.
After the break we got off to a cracking start thanks to Felix Parkin, the man you really don’t want to compete with on who’s school was roughest. Next was Amy Russell whose enemy list contains hospital DJs, dogs and gifted kids. After Amy was Kwami Odoom, who educated us on just what 419 is all about. It was then over to Luke Newman who gave us some spectacular Viking superiority before Onojie Idemudia (pictured) confessed to harbouring a very well fed demon. Closing the show was the brilliant Phil Green. Phil told us about the time he spent down the Gentle Entry and assures us he knows all about the problems with Poo Club (it’s a club for dogs!).
Well that was an absolute cracker of a night. Next Monday at The Star of Kings is G&B’s monthly New Act Competition and returning to do her guest spot we have November’s winner, Katherine Dellar.
