Music & Character Comedy show at The Star of kings

Barb Barrick
Sunday afternoon on March 16th at The Star of Kings was our Music & Character Comedy show. Without fail these are the most outrageous romps of pure silliness and Sunday’s was no exception. First to the stage was the raping riot of Roops and there hot dog box. Then keeping with the musical vibe was Kyriakos Vlachos and how to be a musical comedian without being able to rhyme your verses. It was then over two Jamie Byrne and the fascinating history of Susan Cigarette, the inventor of…the cigarette. Hot Jon Jamie’s heels was our very own Mj Hunter and Betty’s big flaming, final farewell bash. After MJ was Faraz Danish and the cultural divide as demonstrated by The Elizabeth line. We then had Christine Gee (aka Siân Spry), a lady who quite simply now cannot be shocked or surprised by anything. After Christine was Stew Simpson, a man who suffers from gayDHD. Closing the first half was Eoghan Collins. Eoghan is a successful horse rider, norse runic consultant and waiter. AKA being an actor.
After the break we got off to a cracking start thanks to Barb Barrick (pictured) and a riveting round or two of STD bingo. It was then over to Mac O’Donnell who still has PTSD following a set at The Royal George. Next was a bit of a legend, the one and only Rudolph (aka Calvin Smith). Rudolph dished the dirt on Santa, who’s a bit of a dick it seems. After Rudolph was Tony Carr and the true story of Christmas before Ged Milligan gave us some great comedy and a few bits on the tin sandwich. After Ged was the brilliant Jonathan Bennett and his impressive organ with a ditty about forbidden love. It was then over to the professor of the profane, the hilarious Gordon MacSween and the joys of double barrel profanity. The show’s penultimate act was Paggy RG who gave us an elaborate analysis of chromatic comedy. Closing the show was our very own songbird, the wonderful Barbara Fernandez and everything from cougar to cake and some more insight to the crazy life that brought us this fabulously crazy lady.
So that was another cornucopia of crazy. Headlining next Sunday we have the brilliant Mark Vincent.
