Sunday afternoon at Star of Kings, February 4th

Red Hot Llama
We had a cracker of a show Sunday afternoon at The Star of Kings. First to the stage was the brilliant Katherine Dellar from the original Aussie K hole. Next was our regular songstress, the fabulous Barbara Fernandez and those who’re sharp enough to be their own surgeons. Mj Hunter was next with the confession that at best he can manage mild sexual Feng Shui. It was then over to Tony Carr and everything from breast feeding to piano concerts before Calvin Smith gave us his updated Seven Deadly Sins for the 21st century. After Calvin we had Dónal Ó Catháin and some big comedy love for the hard core spreadsheet fans. Josh Mason then showed us how to tell just who your best mates really are before Pop Daddy (aka Paul Haworth) got us singing along to his latest single and smallest hat. It was then over to Fred Bell, who despite his accent is definitely not from Hogwarts. Hot on Fred’s heels was Seb Roberts. Seb educated us on just what semi-colons go between: potential friendships. Closing the first half was the hilarious Barry Matthews. Barry says he wasn’t a looker as a kid; not even Jimmy Saville would reply to his letters.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to Neil Ben and his case of endless punnery. It was then the turn of Rosalie Van Onzenoort who has mastered the corporate laugh. After Rosalie was Damian Hoi (aka Tiger Veggiemamontien ) who’d moved her from Thailand for better economic prospects. He should have checked out what was going on over here first. We then had Red Hot Llama (pictured) who has the world’s most organised “toy” collection…thanks to her mum! It was then over to Paul Certi who has done his bit for the UK with three terms on the front line. He worked at Primark Oxford Street. It was then over to Lord Bastard (aka Martin Bowman) and his manifesto to get unemployed ghosts to pull their economic weight. Sophie Bing then confessed to being nearly incapable of a sexy, subtle night club chat-up. Closing the show was the brilliant Marc Salmon and his guitar. After a tune or two, Marc explained just why men have a complete inability to hold in a fact.
So that was a fun Sunday afternoon. Headlining next Sunday we’ve Nicky Vere-Compton and Graciela Martin.
