Jimbo
Monday night at The Star of Kings was another absolute riot, packed with big laughs and some truly memorable moments. Kicking things off was Rob McAlone, who recently made a shocking discovery—if you can count more grey hairs on the right side of your beard than the left, you definitely have OCD. Next up was Mac O’Donnell, who, as you can tell by his Australian accent, is absolutely not sober. Lauren Amanda then revealed that it was only after moving in with her boyfriend that she discovered something deeply buried within herself—an all-consuming hatred of all men. Eve Perry did what every 29-year-old woman must do: dump her boyfriend and develop an extremely intense interest in crafts. Mani Ahmed then shared some groundbreaking marketing ideas for the Bible app—because let’s be honest, God could use some better branding. Gordon MacSween took us through his patented workshop on swearing, a subject dear to the hearts of all Scottish men. Sophie Stemmons then popped in to educate the straight members of the audience on how to behave—ideally, with a bit more shame. Jimbo Beaumont (pictured) bravely attempted to make his bed on stage… attempted being the key word there. Closing the first half was Joey Abels, firing off his signature quick-fire one-liners. He’s been doing a lot of reflecting lately—though that might just be because of all the mirrors he’s left lying around his lounge.
After the break, Pete Kinsella kicked off the second half. He’s a divorced, middle-aged man with neck tattoos, and against all the odds, he has not taken up jiu-jitsu. Ann McClain Bridges, since moving to the UK, has been receiving some very mysterious invites to incredibly fancy parties hosted by a man called NHS. Ugochi Isiodu then took us through the horrors of being a battle-scarred veteran of online dating, while Elizabeth Leff gave us all an informative history lesson on St Patrick’s Day—because someone had to. Bilee Jou, meanwhile, occasionally forgets that she is an Asian woman. Lucy Davies rounded off the night’s educational section by reminding us that she hails from Bromley, home of legends like David Bowie, Enid Blyton, and—most importantly—herself. Closing the show was the wonderfully wacky Kim Hope, who, in a rather embarrassing mix-up, somehow managed to bring along her All-Stars trophy.
Another smashing night at The Star of Kings! Same time next week?
