So it was a packed and buzzing afternoon at The Star of Kings on Sunday. First to the stage was the hilarious Steven Mayne, who due a fun night three and a half years ago hasn’t been getting much sleep lately. It was then over to Barbara Fernandez and the BPD song that’ll have you all toe tapping. Tony Carr was next with some great tips on the language of love before Neil Ben confessed to being quite the ladies’ man. Chris Wilkinson then had us long for that Game of thrones season we wish we’d actually seen. It was then over to the one and only Jimbo, the man with one of the rarest ever G&B mugs. After Jimbo was the fabulous Indi Madray who had a completely disastrous arranged marriage. She’s not going to be the one arranging her next one. Andy Alty was next with tips on how to break up with someone: make sure there’s a great ceiling to check out. Closing the first half was the brilliant Declan Evans and everything from the best ever sponge cake to breakdancing nuns and embarrassing rashes.
After the break we got off to an amazing start thanks to Adam Dorr, a man who broke up with his girlfriend because things were just too perfect…and that’s what he’s sticking to! Lauren Rivers was next with the truly shocking news that she’s considering having a baby. Well, it was shocking to her partner in the audience. Next was Jordan Jones (pictured), a big metalhead and great fan of the ox-drawn plough. Andrew Norwood then told us just how much he potentially has in common with elite athletes: he likes his “enhancements”, too. Hot on Andy’s heels was SJ Wyatt, which stands for supreme joy…and if you disagree, you’ll get shanked. Mark Vincent then gave a great money saving tip for the stoners: just walk up and down Camden High St for an hour each day. The afternoon’s penultimate act was the puntastic Joey Abels. Joey explained why draft excluders don’t work and just why he’s the best in bed. Closing the show was the fabulous Mj Hunter. MJ had the room in utter hysterics on Sunday. And if wondering, ladies, yes, he’s spoken for. So if you want a man who’ll do as he’s told without question, he already has a boss.
So that was our first Sunday back at the star of kings and what a great show. Next Sunday we’ve a real treat. Mad Ron (aka Steve Lee and Jerry Bakewell are bringing their show Identity Theft to The Star.
