Comedy at The Royal George (Soho)
Thursday nights at G&B mean The Royal George (soho), just round the corner from Tottenham Court Rd tube. Last night was another busy crowd and kicking thins off we had Marc Salmon, who’s giving up drink. Just not his “special’ coffee at work. It was then over to Marco Chiu and Bro, jealousy phone sex. Yes, Marco has his very own category in PornHub. The hilarious Emmy Fyles was next with news the she recently spent £16 on a candle, so is now no longer allowed to call herself Northern. Phillip Reiss then told us where Denham is paired with. If interested, it’s Denham. It was then over to Kerry Thompson and how to guarantee a win when playing Super Mario. Tristan Wolfe then gave us a tale of on the buses before Valerie Steele reliably informed us the orchidectomy really isn’t what you might expect. Next was Eden Taylor-Tapp, a big fan of maple syrup and legal weed…so she’s Canadian. After Eden we had Colin D.H. Smith. If you’ve seen Colin before, you’ll know his sets pretty much defy any kind of description or summary. If you’ve not seen his work, well last night’s was a beautiful, romantic tale of how he met his wife. Closing the first half was Kim Hope. Kim gave the audience a great piece of life advice: never get stressed or feel insecure by models; they’re just scaled down versions or real things.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to Seraj Alijan and why he enjoys a good apology from white folks. Luke Harrower then told us he hasn’t officially been tested for ADHD, but the public vote is in and it’s looking likely. Hot on Luke’s heels was Ruthy Ferrera (pictured) and the joys of the multilingual New Yorker. IT WAS THEN OVER TO Danny Mellor AND WHAT YOU SHOULDN’T BE DOING AT 10 YEARS OLD. After Daniel was Sam Summers and some essential tips on how to survive your first swingers party. Our next act was Kiara Wahnschafft. Sadly due to technical issues, I didn’t get a chance to take any notes. So I’ll make it up to you next time, Kiera. It was then over to Charlie Firth who recently failed miserably in his attempts to kick off a new football chant. Closing the show was the hilarious Jim Hooker. Of all the trials and tribulations Jim has faced over the years, the problem that follows him most is that it’s hard to find the lady who’s looking for Mr Right when you look like Mr Rightwing.
So that was another cracking Thursday at The Royal George. Your MC next week is Felix Parkin, who’ll be bringing you another great show.
