Tuesday, June 11th, The Bell

Darcy Moreland
Tuesday nights we’re at The Bell in Aldgate and this week’s show was a load of fun. First to the stage was the fabulously funny Mj Hunter. After some diligent studying, MJ has become quite the passion machine and has now mastered the Kama Sutra art of Feng shui. After MJ was Ben Marciano and why Jesus is technically less of a solution and more of a source of the problem for the problematic drinker. Darcy Moreland (pictured) then assured us that he’s definitely not Michael B Jordan before Terra Potter explained why the over forties are doing drugs again: no one can afford a midlife crisis anymore. James Wood then took us on a gloriously bonkers trip from bananas to butt grapes and the 2024 vintage. Oliver Wright then proclaimed he would like to be microchipped, but after he’d rebooted wondered what he was talking about. Closing the first half was the hilarious Tony Carr. Tony gave us some great tips on how to all but guarantee you’ll never be bothered by the Jehovah Witnesses again.
After the break Jack Henry had them in stitches with his pantheon of the gay bear and where he falls in its hierarchy. Grace Gooda was next with the sad news that she hasn’t released an endorphin in years. So much so she’s contemplating joining a running club. Steve Tait then reckons a lot of people needn’t have bothered spending a fortune going to Iceland to see the Northern lights when you could just as easily have seen them for nothing a few weeks ago from the Iceland carpark in North London. After Stephen was Mac O’Donnell. Mac was on absolutely cracking form last night and pointed out that the last time he’d been in a room with that many Aussies he was in a certain clinic in Clapham getting an itch seen to. The evening’s penultimate act was the wonderful Archie Keen and the ageless mystery of why Dungeons & Dragons will never make you cool. Closing the show was the brilliant Kwami Odoom. Kwami went to uni to study Spanish and philosophy, so naturally is now an actor…obviously. He also points out that if he doesn’t make it big, it’s simply his mum’s fault.
So that was Tuesday at The Bell and it was a cracking night. Headlining next Tuesday we have the one and only Pam Ford. So see you then.
