Richard Wheatley
It was a cracking night at The Royal George on Thursday. Guest MC Mj Hunter got things off to a great start and first to the stage was Declan Evans whose tattoos and new jacket didn’t quite help him find that dog. It was then over to Rohan Ashar and why sometimes just throwing a chair can get you what you need. It was then over to Stanislav Gunko who’s a big supporter of gay marriage…any method of getting a passport, in fact. The wonderfully weird Louis Fletcher was next with news that he recently came out to his parents…as straight! After Louis was Mac O’Donnell. Mac says he’s not big city handsome, but possibly a 9 out of 10 in a small rural town of 20. It was then the turn of Charlie Firth and why his right bicep is ripped thanks to his weighted blanket. Madelaine Crabb was next with an idea for teaching Scottish self-defence classes before Oliver Wright told us of his heartfelt Moto: everything happens for a raisin. Tony Carr then told us his kids are just hanging out till they can inherit. The musical fabulousness of Barbara Fernandez was after Tony with musical fat camp and pushy mothers. Closing the first half was the brilliant Richard Wheatley (pictured). Richard explained just why disabled loos are problematic for the blind.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to Louis Turner and his ode to dating vegans. Archie Keen then explained why even being a high level half elf might not make him cool before Paul Irwin had some interesting ideas on modern teaching. Lindsey Pugh then explained just why dying the “bits” is a full time job post 35. It was then over to Max Norman and another of his brilliant character creations. This one was the director that made the most from his cast. The one-liner man, Ricky Baker, was next with just why TikTok might not be for him. After Ricky was Callum Mackenzie whose accent is less Scottish and more Times New Roman. Jonny Slater then lamented on the better class of ginger bullying provided by JK Rowling. Closing the show was Calvin Smith. Calvin wondered just why being tall never gets him any sympathy…or seats on the tube!
Well that was a fun night. Headlining Thursday 20th we’ve Adam B and Paul Little.
