So due to the right wing bell ends in London, we decided to have a shorter show at The Bell on Wednesday so some acts didn’t have to travel in. This ended up with a shorter, but perfectly formed evening of comedy. Our guest MC for the evening was Calvin Smith and the first act he brought to the stage was Declan Kennedy and just why Britain can’t possibly be full so long as we tolerate the making of those babies, who don’t speak the language and show no interest in working. We then had Will Earle who’s going for a Love Island body…just with no specific timescale. It was then over to Caryn Cobersy and her great dieting tip: get yourself some Nora virus. After Caryn was Tom Draper, whose ambition as a poet is to have his work displayed on the tube. Well, it’s got to be better than those “Bus Replacement” ones. Cameron Holder then told us that his look is best described as lesbian lumberjack before Peter Higgins let us in on the beauty of seeing those slimy dolphin trails in the garden by dawn’s light. Daniel Goodburn then waxed lyrical about just how much he’d love to be American, or at least the confidence of one. Daniel Kaszas was next with his loooong list of things he loathes. After Daniel was G&B’s poet laureate, the fabulous Jack Scullion, who gave us a reprieve of his famous Greek Taverna set, complete with Stavros, the barman. Closing the show was Mike L (aka Michal Uchal – pictured), the Eastern European one-liner king who let us in on the “joys” of communism and the puns of Putin.
