Wednesday, July 29th, The Bell

Jon Lee
Another sweltering Wednesday evening saw The Bell provide a welcome escape from the sun, with a lively crowd creating the perfect atmosphere for another cracking night of comedy.
Charlotte Imbert got things underway with the trials and tribulations of Tesco self-checkouts before Roger Gewolb explained why he’d rather not become too successful too soon. Sam Garnett reckoned he’d look a lot worse if it was entirely up to him, while Jason Rose made the case for being a modern-day Henry VIII. When Jon Lee (pictured) was unfortunately unable to make it, Harry Kane stepped in as an able substitute, before Cathal O’Regan revealed the treats his girlfriend leaves in the shower. Charlie Firth was more than happy not to look British, and Ella Clark rounded off the first half by discovering which of her friends (and the audience) has the most questionable personal hygiene.
Barbara Fernandez kicked off the second half by reassuring everyone that her husbands were exactly where she’d left them. Danny Mathews leaned into his resemblance to a discount Danny Dyer, before Chris Foulser gave a masterclass in mansplaining. Gary Johl informed us he’d been circumcised for the sake of these jokes, while Chivonne Graff explained why she’d called her ex to come round somewhere cold and shady. James McKerrell admitted to leaving his phone in the fridge, resulting in plenty of cold calls, before Elizabeth Alexander shared her appreciation for Swedish cinema. Mark Vincent had fully committed to 72-hour deodorant, meaning he couldn’t possibly shower until Saturday, leaving Amber Phillips to close the night by telling the us all just how weird we are.
