Wednesday night at The Bell was another fantastic one! Mani Ahmed kicked things off reflecting on his recent travels though he’s missing the random airport security checks, great for life but terrible for comedy material. Eve Perry (pictured) shared how her friends forced her to make a list of things she’s banned from doing on dates. Naturally, she wasn’t convinced. Andy Brittain celebrated young people for inventing neurodivergency, much to his delight. Ben Marciano reminded us that being from Essex comes with the expected downside of not having the brightest mates. Jimbo Beaumont, for reasons unknown, made me bring a chair on stage for him only to proceed not to use it at all. Phil Myers ex used astrology to declare their incompatibility, yet she stuck around for 18 months, presumably just to test the theory. Mo Khan, recently single, took us through the full emotional rollercoaster of singledom. Closing the first half, Karan Mehra was happy to be back in London after performing in NYC, finally enjoying the novelty of an actual audience.
Opening the second was the hilarious Donal Vaughan confessed he’s an 8 back in Ireland, though it might not help much considering Ireland was recently voted the ugliest country in Europe. Susan Heather Kitcatt’s dyslexia has led to some unfortunate mishaps, but thankfully they were very humus (humorous). Seam Anderson has been struggling with the word “namaste,” especially when it’s said by an English bloke from Clapham sporting yoga pants. Sophie Stemmons revealed she discovered she was gay in the most indirect way possible, someone said “say what if you’re gay,” and she just didn’t hear it. Richard Wheatley brought the crowd along on a spectacular acapella rendition of “Livin’ on a Prayer.” Ziad Samaha is annoyingly both rich and likeable, a rare and unfair combination. Harriet Stibbard gave us a hilarious rundown of the barnyard animals she deals with in her day job in finance. Closing the show was Henry Bretz, hailing from the tiny Australian suburb of Clapham Common. His Australian mum recently represented at the Olympics for breakdancing, and we’re assuming she did very well. Another great night at The Bell, see you again next week!
