Wednesday, May 22nd, The Bell

Paul Merryck
It was another buzzing night at The Bell on Wednesday and another really up for it crowd. First to make them laugh was the hilarious Richard Wheatley and Whovian audioporn. It was then over to Dipak Patel and the family wedding that was so long it almost ended up a funeral. After Dipak we had Seam Anderson. Seam tells us he’s usually the looker on any comedy bill. I don’t know about that, but his guide dog is adorable. We then had Declan Evans who is the last person you want organising your stage night. It was then over to Steve Tait who gave the crowd a lesson in how to survive marriage guidance counselling. Next was Luke Richards and just how the NHS waiting list could be culled down a bit. After Luke was Nicky Vere-Compton and jails and jailbirds II, the game for all the family…apparently. It was then the turn of Atle, a man who has set the comedy bar challengingly high for his audiences. Tony Carr then told us how dic pics were done back in the good old days. Closing the first half was the puntastic Mark Rivlin. Mark rounded the first half off with the ultimate f**k you to all the hipsters out there.
After the beak we got off to a great start thanks to the fabulously funny Mj Hunter and why threesomes might just not be his thing. It was then over to Ashley Hogarth and some of life’s big questions, like is drinking lube good for your constipation. Next was Lucy Jenner, Starbucks most talented legal expert. Donal Keane then told us of his get rich quick scheme of suing Taylor Swift. After Donal we had Amogh Margoor and just how much he enjoys confusing the Brits working on customer helplines. Hot on Amigo’s heels was Alexandra Walker and why we Brits just can’t be trusted with Marbles. It was then over to birthday boy Michal Jenicek and everything from cheap icing sugar to open pic mines, the basic highlights of Czech tourism. Our penultimate act was Archie Keen. Archie’s trying to come to terms with Dungeons and Dragons slightly perky undertones…and total lack of cool. Closing the show was the brilliant Paul Merryck (pictured). Paul really knows his audiences. So much so he challenged them in a moral dilemma of world peace…and they failed just as Paul predicted.
So that was another cracking night. We’ve no show next Weds. That’s the last of the booking mess ups at The Bell. However, we’re back at The star on Tuesday 28th with headliners Seam Anderson and Pete Kinsella.
