Evan Henley
Monday night we were at Royal George Charing Cross Road and it was a really fun gig. Kicking off the laughs was the hilarious Declan Kennedy and the fascist revolution started kit. It was then over to Roger Gewolb, who recently discovered ketamine and ageism… He’s the agesist! After Roger was Jason Rose who knows where to buy the best seminal perfume. Hot on Jason’s heels was Charlie Firth a man who has mastered the art of the chat-up line. And any day now he’ll put it into action. Tony Matthews then told us that he definitely sees colours, just not the right ones. Neil Benson then told us that he once didn’t believe in dogs or ghosts, and still doesn’t. Closing the first half was Andrew Conway, who has worked his way round the comedy scene one nominatively determined gig at a time.
The evening’s second half started with some magic and a rather brave Andrew Steel as my assistant. It was then over to Martin Ashworth and just what he has in common with Jesus. After Martin was Cushty and some cake and exposure therapy. It was then over to Evan Henley (who was on cracking form!), a man who, unlike the box jellyfish has two very reliable and fully functioning kidneys. Patricia Mihail then lied to our faces and told us she had turned forty before telling us the best time of year to off a dictator. It was then over to Connor White, a man who’s suffered with the curse of nicknames. Mrs Goutfire being a particularly tough one…from his brother. After Conner was Dylan Almeida, a man who believes in rearranged marriage. Our penultimate act was Marco Del Valle and the dishonourable discharge he got from Milton Keynes. Closing the show was the simply fabulous Sam Day, an onslaught of musical comedy chaos and sumptuous silliness.
