July 16th, G&B’s Dark Delights

Dean Helliwell
So Tuesday night at The Bell was another of G&B’s Dark Delights shows, our evening dedicated to comedy’s darker side. First to the stage was Steven Mayne and 9 stage parties, one marriage and no blackjack. It was then over to Tony Carr and how to brighten up your street with flowers: run someone over. Next was G&B’s favourite punster, Mark Rivlin. Mark came on the bus last night. So naturally he’s now barred from the entire 77A bus route. After Mark was Nicky G, who is Libran but identifies as a Taurus. Gabriel Madden was next with “Don’t trust da pigs”, the most concise summary of the classic Animal Farm. The Fabulous SJ Wyatt was next with the disturbing tale of how the nuns taught her to read and gave her a love of Doctor Who. Our very own Barbara Fernandez was next with her musical take on suffocating relationships before Ash Jordan wondered if drinking lube will help with constipation. Closing the first half was the wonderfully dark Andrew Dipple. Every the believer in democracy, Andrew gave the room the choice of just how dark they wanted his set. The audience didn’t disappoint.
Our second half opened with the triumphant return of Kendrick Johnson and the best open casket ever. It was then over to Roy Michael and tales of our late Queen, the UK’s most famous shapeshifter. We then had Dean Helliwell (pictured), aka Scarlet Johansen’s life sized dildo. After dean was Ben Marciano and just why puppy puke is about as bad as it gets when tripping before Marigold Lately gave us Russel Brand or Terrier, the untrained dog choice for the 21st century. Eoghan Collins then explained why having teeth is a bit like having kids: it’s only bad if one goes missing. Closing the show was the hilarious Duncan Hart, the man with the death defying chat-up line that even comes with it’s own illustrations.
So that was our Dark Delights show. I love these nights! Our next one isn’t until September 17th, but we’re taking bookings now.
