July 31st, Wednesday, The Bell

Peasoup Comedy
Write-up by guest MC Calvin Smith
We had a fantastic night at The Bell Thursday. Kicking us off was the fantastic Charlie Firth who has a new approach to his succeeding in his job, by updating his LinkedIn profile to land some sympathy sales. Next to the stage was Megan O’Brien, who has a surprise in store for the next person she pegs… Jacob Tidmarsh then showed us some of his fantastic ballet moves – he’s got a fantastic jete, and a personal favourite, the Nutcracker. Up next, Essam Aljaedy told us about the rough time he had during puberty, when he was completely smooth. Next to the stage was the continental Lenny Consolo whose mother is half-Calabrian, half-Sicilian, but (despite what people think) isn’t a pizza. Archie Keen (with too many middle names to note down) had us all in stitches wondering about the way that families treat every stepdad’s favourite impulse buy – the hamster. Then it was on to Abhishek Mishra, who was surprised about his purchasing options at a Zimbabwean sperm bank. Headlining our first half was the utterly side-splitting Felix Parkin. Felix had us all howling with laughter at his traumatic childhood (mainly for his teachers) in Telford – a place where the typical career path for kids in his class was parenthood.
Our second half started with a bang with the fabulous Declan Evans who was outraged that his doctor refused to look at his rash, and instead just carried on with his shopping. Marc Cohen had us all wondering if wearing a pink shirt as a problematic, straight, white, male might be cultural appropriation? Next up was the widely travelled musical stylings of Peasoup Comedy (pictured)who’ve performed everywhere from Kent, to… slightly north of Kent. Jack Henison was musing on the philosophical question more pertinent than the chicken and egg – which came first, the barn, or the barn owl? Our penultimate act was the hilarious Sonny Savage who is so clumsy, that he suspects his last words will be “oops”. And finally, our second headliner of the night was the amazingly funny Johnny Murph who is capable of unparalleled Postman Pat themed beatboxing, but isn’t sure what he sees in his dominatrix wife – beats him.
So that was another cracking Wednesday at The Bell. Headlining next Weds we have the wonderful Indi Madray and the puntastic, one-liner awesomeness of Mike L (aka Michal Uchal).
