Sunday afternoon at The Star of Kings an interesting afternoon with some awesome acts. Kicking things off was the simply fabulous Tracey Bowman, who told us you simply cannot flatter a lady with the offer of a national trust two-for-one. It was then over to Jack Clerkin who’s not keen on machetes or their owners. After Jackie was SJ Wyatt whose mother was a big believer in God, but not dyslexia. Marta Kay then confessed to not being a big fan of British sarcasm before Sam Hampson told us how to go from bi to trisexual. Louis Fletcher then told us why he loves a basement gig: no one can jump out a window. After Louis was Clare Pasquale, the indisputable next gen Pam Ayres. We then had Megan O’Brien, an act so Irish she only uses “I can’t believe it’s not KerryGold”. Closing the first half was Mark Vincent. Mark told us he’s vehemently against assisted suicide…now he knows you can’t nominate people.
After the break we got off to an amazing start thanks to the simply outrageous messiness of there hilarious Colin D.H. Smith and the history of Scottish Independence. Paggy RG gave us the inside truth on the ASDA acronym before Stormy Pash gave us a sneak preview of his calf muscles. Andy B then reminisced about his days back in the 80’s when he was big in the No Movement movement. It was then over to Max von Husen who’s not great at interviews: he just can’t lie! Gordon MacSween then gave us the rather fabulous scientific breakdown of sweaty intent. After Gordon was Yvonne Alexander with the modern and technological arch of the common all garden flasher. Tony Carr then gave us the true joys of the Chinese alphabet before Martina O’Sullivan advised that it’s best to have some basic Polish if ever having your nails done. Closing the show was the simply brilliant Sally Firth (aka Siân Spry – pictured). Sally let us in on some of the trials and tribulations of living with Roger, a man she’ll one day need an alibi for when he disappears.
So that was Sunday afternoon at The Star of Kings. Headlining next Sunday we’ve Eoghan Collins and Caroline Madds.
