Carwyn Blayney
Write-up by guest MC Mj Hunter
It was another great show at The Star of Kings on Sunday, first up to the stage was Declan Evans, who shared his new outlook on life that prevents him from getting embarrassed—though it seems to have made him a terrible lifeguard. Next up, Tony Carr assured us he might be a lot of things, but miserable isn’t one of them. Deniro B Stocks recounted the absurdity of being attacked with a loaf of sourdough—especially in this economy! Barbara Fernandez serenaded us with tales of her past husbands. Dean Helliwell was next with the story of having a heart attack on the worst possible day—April Fool’s Day. Lenny Consolo was next, demonstrating his impressive ability to communicate in Italian hand gestures, even if he can’t speak actual sign language. Sam Day shared his comedic woes of being from Norfolk, and Mac O’Donnell entertained us with stories of meeting fellow Australians in the most unlikely parts of Clapham, specifically sexual health clinics. Closing the first half was Darcy Moreland, who revealed an ingenious yet slightly illegal life hack for getting free food.
Kicking off the second half was Callum Mackenzie, who hilariously confessed his eagerness to turn 30 and give up on his dreams. Calvin Smith took us on a wild ride through his days in a prog band, where their drug of choice was, antihistamines. Benorli Nathanson showed us the unexpected beauty in a pile of poo. Up next was Mark Flexman who does not take after his name. Connor Bell then introduced us to his inventive men’s version of ‘Ask for Angela,’. Ryan Connor followed doesn’t love or hate marmite – its just fine. Emma Preet sang to us about the joys London underground, while Kerry Thompson shared the unfortunate tale of not even managing second place in a boxing match. Closing the show was Carwyn Blayney, who had everyone in stitches with his stories about his phone’s relentless attempts to get him back with his ex-girlfriend.
