It was an absolute cracker of a show Sunday afternoon at The Star of Kings, packed room full of a wonderfully buzzing audience. First to the stage was the glorious craziness of Charlie Jackson and We Will Rock You as never seen nor heard before. It was then over to Jimmy Pringle and the true wizards amongst us, the Reiki healers. Felix Parkin then took us on a trip through the pantheon of Greek gods and just why Hermes was robbed. Seraj Alijan was next with the religious implication of the burpee. After sera was Ollie Taylor who reliably informs us that you shouldn’t remove the helmet from any cyclist you’re run over. It was then the turn of Barbara Fernandez with the Easter rising and the place she just don’t go. We then had none other than The Milky Bar kid himself, Ben Roberts, who reminded us just who the Milky Bars are on. Leo Ma was next with the uncomfortable similarity between Santa and a certain rogue bisexual before Ellie Ward wondered if her partner can’t work out what way a plug goes in a socket, are they the one. Closing the first half was Georgia Thorp who recently came out as an overthinker, which might explain why she’s been taking swimming lessons since the 90’s.
After the break and a bit more magic, this time some slightly suggestive mind reading, we got off to a cracking start thanks to Calvin Smith and an updated version of the Seven Deadly sins. It was then over to Sheila Belo who recently turned 35. Which was an improvement on her 36th birthday. Sarah Roberts then told us that she’s not bipolar, just full on Gemini. After Sarah we had Ryan Connor and why a dog might not necessarily be a man’s best friend. It was then over to Becky Jade. Becky’s in her tidying up phase and she’s not sure it’s going well as all she has left is her favourite vibrator. The afternoon’s penultimate act was Mj Hunter and how to share a flat with a well hung cat with attitude. Closing the show was the incredible Adam B. Adam took the audience on a magical trip of visual, mind bending magic from crystal balls to Rubik cubes, leaving the crowd mind boggled and amazed.
So that was a fabulous Sunday afternoon. Headlining next Sunday we’ve the hilarious comedy talents of Frances Jane and Sally Firth (aka Siân Spry).
