Tuesday, August 13th, The Bell

Paul Moore
We had such a fun night at The Bell on Tuesday. First to the stage was the brilliantly bizarre Louis Fletcher. Louis always ends up breathless before sex with his girlfriend, but he just does’t have the space to leave her inflated. It was then over to Mac O’Donnell and the realisation his father doesn’t know how to erase his browser history. Peter Higgins then told us about having once met The Pope, but had no tissue to offer him. Mani Ahmed then told us about how he’s living his best life, which according to his mom is Poundland bachelordom. Connor Bell then told us about a recent injury which has left him with a temporary cane. It may not be as distinguished as he’d hoped, but it gets him seats on the tube. Lenny Consolo then had them in stitches by confessing to be part pizza…on his mother’s side. Closing the first half was the hilarious Felix Parkin and everything from Guantanamo to Preston and his latest invention: jeopardy yoga.
After the break, and a little mind reading card magic, we got off to a cracking start thanks to Paul Moore (pictured) who met his older self in some space time warping caused by the Bell’s geographic positioning. Godfrey Mercado then explained just why he can’t cope with English parties. Where’s the food, dude?! After Godfrey was Morgan DeVere who has a tip for all the hoarders out there: hoard cash instead. Toby Baddeley then brought us some clowning chaos that was somewhere between the Muppets Swedish chef and Seve Balasteros. Courtenay Inchbald gave us the history of ned Stark before Abdullah Tahir confessed to moving here from Birmingham, where you just can’t form an emotional attachment with your new phones. The evening’s penultimate act was the fabulously funny Nick Bain, a man with a poor gag reflex, which in the gay world qualifies as a disability. Closing the show was the brilliant Charlie Firth. From his weighted blanket and his bulging right bicep, to the audio equipment in Vietnamese showers, Charlie had the crowd in absolute hysterics.
So that was Tuesday at The Bell. Next week’s our last week before we have a short summer break. Headlining next Tuesday we have Mj Hunter and Jon Wickham.
