Emerson Young
Tuesday night at The bell was a load of fun. First to get them laughing was the brilliant Dipak Patel who has a great relationship with his daughter…so long as she’s not demonstrating her white privilege. It was then over to Emerson Young (pictured) who’s been a bit of a dog in his day, just not the way you might think. After Emerson was Tony Carr and why not every kid had the traditional skateboard. Jack Clerkin then gave us some great tips on how not to come out to your parents before Anna Quinton showed us how to style out being a bit of a plonker with your specs. Gabriele Medeot was next with the consistency of a vegan’s “joy”. We then had Stormy Pasha, tall, charismatic, stylish and definitely not heterosexual. It was then over to our first headliner of the evening, the fabulous Matthew Mj. MJ broke a few hearts before letting us know he can be a bit shabby and unemployed.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to Jay Middleton and everything from sausage rolls to Crocs and Jean Small Van Dam. Alexey Potemkin then told us all about the totally sensible and not at all batshit crazy citizenship exam. Rosie Wood then explained the five easy steps to becoming a truly hilarious comedian before Nathan Jacobs told us of his ambition to one day become the man who breaks the stigma of haemorrhoids. Casey Stephen Jack told us that he was his own imaginary friend as a kid…cos he loved playing with himself way too much. Declan Evans then told us all about the inherent problems with robing banks when you don’t look old enough to hold an account. Closing the show was the brilliant John Pape. With a face like a well lubed butt plug, John had the crowd in oily hysterics and desperate to know his preferred choice of man oil.
So that was Tuesday at The Bell. Next week is our final gigs at the Bell of 2024 and we’ve two crackers. Tuesday night is G&B’s Christmas Fundraiser, the show where our evening proceeds go to FCENS, a homeless charity that helps people find overnight shelter and help finding a permanent home. Then Wednesday is our G&B’s Nightmare Before Christmas show, our last chance to get down dirty and dark
