Tuesday, February 13th, Star of Kings

Kim Hope
It was a nicely busy night at The Star of Kings Tuesday with a wonderfully up for it crowd. First to make them laugh was bonkers bizarre comedy of the hilarious James Sutton. It was then over to Lucy Clark who’s a big fan of Piers Morgan…if he’d have his lips sewn shut! After Lucy was Christopher Donovan a man with the answer to crime in the UK: nunchucks. Nicky Vere-Compton then told us just how much her mother hated her comedy baritone alter ego before Ben Roberts took the crowd on a nostalgia trip of creamy chocolaty goodness…on him! Daisy Roberts then explained how morning conversations at her flat can all too easily end up being about some boy’s haemorrhoids. After daisy was Josh Mason, who did some Derren Brown style mindreading that one day will be mindblowing…just not yet. It was then over to Robbie Fox who sounds like he could prescribe drugs but looks like he’d mug you for them. Sarah Lewis then wondered if they ever run out of Naked Attraction applicants, will the producers have it done like jury service. Lord B’stard aka Martin Bowman then offer up his manifesto to get those feckless ghosts into gainful employment. Closing the first half was Mr Corporate, Phillip Cornwall. Phil is getting over a severe MMD addiction (Meaningless Management Drivel), but he still managed to get 110% from the crowd and unleashed their inner thought rhinos.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to Tevin Everett whose grandfather might have had an easier time in catching his partner’s eye back in the day. Seb Fisher wondered who does something stop being a joke before becoming a full on foot fetish before Alejandro Fernández told us why he knows the brits would survive after an apocalyptic war and it’s all to do with our diet. Clare Samuels then told us that she loves a brew at work, but mainly Special Brew. After Clare was Gabriel Madden who thanks to his flatmates is cultivating a unique strain of athletes foot. It was then the turn of Mac O’Donnell, aka Gary Neville’s stunt double, who turns out to be a very easily drawable guy. Hot on mac’s heels was Farrah who explained just how to get a third nipple into your family gene pool…if that sort of thing interests you. The evening’s penultimate act was Luke McCarthy. Luke likes to start off his set with a heartfelt apology to his audience…for the haircut. Closing the show was the simply fabulous Kim Hope. Kim’s a bit of a wine expert on the side with talented tastebuds that can take you from flowery insouciance to earthy regret with a hint of dire consequences. Fabulous!
So that was another fun night at The Star of Kings. Headlining next Tuesday we’ve the wonderful Phil Green and G&B’s poet laureate the hilarious Jack Scullion.
