Tuesday, January 21st, The Bell

Phil Green
It was a brilliant night at The Bell on Tuesday, packed with a cracking and up for it audience. First to the stage was the hilarious Lauren Rivers. It seems Lauren’s partner is slowly alleviating her desire to kill all men. Phew…! It was then over to Rohan Ashar who cleared up a current issue: autism doesn’t make you an accidental racist! We then had Chiff Powell, Marvels’ least popular superhero: VATman. After Chiff we had Sam Hampson, who for most of his 20s was bisexual, but then had had sex for a third time. After Sam was Ben Summers, a proud and out vegan and lover of being mocked and bullied. It was then over to Casey Stephen Jack, who has been pleasantly surprised by how little racism he has experienced as a blue eyed, blond Canadian immigrant. Next was Jackie Sea, who’s finding it harder to hide that he’s gay…now that he tells everyone when he’s on stage. It was then over to Sam Day who recently had to do a gig where he was heckled by a chuffing, methanous dog. Closing the first half, and on absolutely cracking form, was the AK 47 of one-liners, the hilarious Mr Punman, Mark Rivlin. Mark has given up doing pub quizzes because he’s realised he just doesn’t know enough about pubs.
After the break, and a little staple gun magic, we got off to a great start thanks to our very own songbird, the fabulous Barbara Fernandez and the pillow talk that ended with, “HELP!” After Barbara was Essam Aljaedy, who loves a turtle neck, for memories of things chopped and gone. It was then over to Dave Groom who gave us the fascinating dick to stone ration, essential in all kidney stone calculations. After dave’s eyewaterinw punchline we had Andy B who told us why it’s no use trying to get a sauce recipe from a journalist. After Andy, thanks to Stephen Bates we had some morality fun with the Judeo-Christian-Satanic community before Dónal Ó Catháin helped us properly pronounce his name with the help of Dunkin’ Donuts. Stormy Pasha then told the crowd he might not be gay…and the crowd might not have bought it. Closing the show was the fabulously funny Phil Green (pictured). From Ironmans to aubergine emojis in family WhatsApp group to breakdowns and the need of a ground floor guest room, Phil had them in stitches.
So that was a cracker of a night at The Bell. As always, there’s no show on the last Tuesday of the month, but we’re back next Wednesday with Eoghan Collins and Sam Mullen headlining.
