Tuesday night at The Star of Kings was an absolute cracker of a show with each and ever act bringing stellar energy to the stage. First up was the hilarious Marc Salmon and when does calling an ambulance make you a grass…when you live in Croydon. It was then over to the mellifluous Barbara Fernandez and how to increase your IQ with some interesting dietary changes. Next was Zak Baker a true romantic who believes in ambient love. It was then over to out and proud cat lover Cathy White, a lady whose spare room you never want to see. After Cathy was Jim Vanderpump, a man who lost half a language in his divorce. It was then over to Louie Falls and how to be a literary activist with some simple repositioning of titles. Adam Wright and his mum were next. His mum’s a bit of a chatterbox as it turns out. Hot on Adam’s heels was Mark Vincent, the man who has mastered a sartorial style that manages to repel even the most desperate of muggers. It was then over to Callum Mackenzie who lives in a place where people only have sex to cure hiccups. Closing the first half was the gloriously bonkers Moss (aka James Watkins – pictured). Moss gave us everything from musical comedy to pillow fights and a quick bank robbery.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to the brilliant Pete Kinsella and his dodgy dog with its dodgy attitude, but its very liberal views on sexuality. After Pete was Amogh Margoor. Any time Amogh gets nostalgic, he calls his bank’s customer service line for a sound of home. It was then the turn of Catriona CF who wonders if by 2030 will there be any metaphysical elephants left in the room. Will Earle then told us he became a teacher partly so he could get his own back at the school bullies before Kieran Carson told us according to his dad all of Man United was gay. After Kie was Scott Smith and some truly profound, if possibly illegal, parenting tips. Frances Jane was the evening’s penultimate act and gave us a few things to think about, like just what shade is Tutankhamun beige? Closing the show was the magical Adam B and the obsession that led him to a standing ovation with a Rubik’s cube.
So that was Tuesday at The Star of Kings and what a cracker of a night that was.
