Wednesday, April 17th, The Bell

Matt Smith
Wednesday evenings we’re now at The Bell in Aldgate. Kicking the comedy off this Wednesday we had Val Pop, who loves being in the UK. Well, it’s safer than some other places, so maybe love is s bait strong. Gabriel Madden was next with news that his ADHD has robbed him of a laptop and access to good loos. It was then over to SJ Wyatt, the act that in a few years G&B will be campaigning to be the next Doctor Who. It was then over to Will Haslam who showed the crowd how to win friends and influence people…just not that sponging NHS. Mac O’Donnell was next with an observation about the UK’s personal trainers and why James Cordon could probably get a job in the industry. After Mac was Jill Duncan. Jill’s a bit of a daredevil and not the type of act to bail out, unless it’s a plane. She even owns her own parachute! Martin Jeyes then pointed out that sleep candles fly in the face of every health and safety statement ever made before Matteo Rizzo gave us some interesting translations…even some dog ones. Closing the first half was Adam B and when a knot is not a knot, and when it’s not even worth trying to work out what knot’s not.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to Declan Kennedy and everything from the Brazilian combover to Blackpool and the Spanish Inquisition. Kyriakos Vlachos was after Declan with why 24 concurrent seasons of Ru Paul make being a 21st century gay very difficult. Next was Henry Lewis, the most famously misunderstood Batman since Christian Bale. Michal Jenicek then levied a serious accusation on we Brits. He reckons we’re bad a queuing! Well, at 1.30am in Leicester Square McDonalds anyway. Hot on Michal’s heels was Alex Priestley and ghostly going ons and the power stance. Next was Stanislav Gunko who’s 41, the age between TikTok and colonoscopies. Jon Wickham was our penultimate act with the joys of middle age and not giving in. Closing the show was the hilarious Matt Smith (pictured). Matt celebrated his birthday by getting gout, but made up for it by getting pegged at The Tower Of London, so not all bad.
So that was another fun night at The Bell. Headlining next Wednesday is Girlpower Night at The Bell. Headlining we have Siân Spry and Mel Owen. Your MC for the evening is our very own Barbara Fernandez.
