We had another great night at the bell in Aldgate on Wednesday. First to the stage was Tiger, who gave us all some insights into his unusual skincare routine… Then it was over to Peter Withers who made friends with all the other tradespeople in the audience, just after he did a little impromptu plumbing for us. Then it was over to Roy Michael who’s been thinking up new TV shows recently but admits that Taliban Love Island might need some more thinking through. Joe Moody then gave us some of his ideas for some new mental health Paralympic sports, although they may need to find a new way to start off the PTSD 100m sprint. Next up was Keith Mendes who has recently started doing a radio announcers voice on work calls to stop people thinking he’s a woman, and it has the unexpected benefit of helping him deliver his diagnoses more smoothly. After Keith, it was Declan Kennedy‘s turn to muse about the phrase “If you’re going to judge a man, you should first walk a mile in his shoes” – Declan finds it much more effective to sleep in their car. The final act of the first half was Colin Smith who gave us his tabletop cinema / charity shop item rendition of Casablanca that had us all asking him to play it again.
We kicked off the second half with the hilarious Callum Mackenzie who thinks children these days are a bit too sarcastic – when Callum asked one of them what the best superpower was, he said “China”. Then Andy Duthie told us all that he doesn’t like people making sweeping statements – unless they’re talking about street cleaning. It was then time for a cautionary tale of aging and grooming from Garry Senff who recently shaved off an 8-year beard and found his dad underneath. We then had Casey Stephen Jack who doesn’t think he’s gay but is a bit too into professional wrestling to be completely sure. Then it was time for व्योम सिंह (Vyom) who thinks life in England is much easier than in India – when something goes wrong, there’s only one God to blame. Our penultimate act was Chris Chapman who’s recently tried some exotic dating apps but is worried that the “positive singles” one might land him with an STI. Closing the show, we had the utterly fabulous Carwyn Blayney (pictured) who let us know where to find those odd toe shoes – you can find them in the pharmacy (next to the other contraceptives). Carwyn is a man who says you should never take advice. That’s his… opinion.
So that was another fantastic night at the Bell! Join us next Wednesday when we’ll have the wonderful Seam Anderson and Callum Mackenzie as your headliners.
