This has been a cracking week at G&B with packed rooms every night. And Wednesday at The Bell was another great night. First to the stage was Stanislav Gunko, whom after a while with British food can’t imagine how Putin managed to poison anyone. Next was Keith Mendes (pictured) and his life mantra that has got him through some dark times: F**k this s**t”. We then had Rich Bunn who could have been anything with that voice…even the voice on the tube. After Rich was Ziad Samaha and the genetics of stupidity before Scott Gammon confessed to something truly dark…he’s American. We forgave him. Anoop Singh Kung then came to terms with his youth, which thanks to Ziad possibly wasn’t what he thought. The one and only Jimbo was next with his Wembley sound check. Eve Perry was next with her timeless obsession with David Tennant. After eve was Amber Phillips and the joys of a supportive family. Closing the first half was David Ferguson and the benefit of owning a bathroom Dyson if you’re particularly hairy.
After the break we got off to a great start thanks to Callum Mackenzie and the stresses of life choices…and student debt for a creative writing degree. Next was Bianca Boorer and the real subject she studied at school. After Bianca was Mo Khan, a man who’s doing his utmost to defy anyone’s titular expectations. Mary Taylor then told us why vans are better than beaches before Charlie Firth had us sympathising with him being related to the Easter Island statues. The evening’s penultimate act was the hilarious Aarian Mehrabani, who had us questioning the finite wording of “passenger on the tracks” when someone has thrown themselves on the line. Closing the show was the brilliant Sonny Savage, whose clumsy behaviour may very well have his last words being “W’oooops!”
So that was Wednesday at The Bell and it was another cracker of a show. Headlining next Wednesday we have Mac O’Donnell and Jim Hooker.
