Sunday afternoon at The Star of Kings turned out to be a really fun show with several new faces doing their very first ever stand-up gigs. First to the stage was the brilliant Matt Withers who explained the problem with podcasts: men! Connor Yeates then confessed to following Gordon Ramsey’s mantra of you gotta taste what you make. Lee VG then asked whether we knew if narwals exist for real. Well, they do and Nando’s deliver, too. Sara Palomarr was after Lee with tales of rationed loo roll in Colombia. Somesh Chakrabortty then told us he wants kids to be able to vape as much as they like, so long as their parents smoke unfiltered cigarettes more to free up some inheritances quicker. It was then over to Paul Schifferes who asked the question is a parrot a parrot if he can’t parrot? Closing the first half was Rob Ash, whom according to one of the kids in his class is so ugly not even Cillit will bang him.
After the break and a wee bit of voodoo magic, we got off to a cracking start thanks to the hilarious Kimberly Policella who believes tofu is the evil spawn of Satan himself. We then had Alexander Tang and the vegan meat fest pizza for those with diary intolerance. After Alexander was Katie Tweddle who posed the question, what is the appropriate attire for a break-up? It was then over to Steph and her dog Daisy and just why you shouldn’t leave your ventriloquist dog in the same room as you’re having sex. Closing the show was the brilliant Carwyn Blayney (pictured). Carwyn let us in on just why barbershop quartettes are so competitive and why Meta should really read the rom before handing you a montage of you past few months activity.
Well that was a really fun gig. Headlining next Sunday we have Marc Salmon and Mark Rivlin. See you then.
